Catching up... Miss Lillian's.

It's been a while. I've been through carpal tunnel surgery, trigger finger surgery, and then two weeks ago I broke my left pinkie finger. It's been quite the challenge this winter.

Miss Lillian's Feline Cottage, slightly more furnished. I made a cloth screen to separate the bedroom from the bathroom.

Better picture of living room details.

I'll post more up-to-date pictures once I've taken them.

A bed, a chair, a table

More work on Miss Lillian's Feline Cottage today.

I have installed and painted the roof.

I think it looks pretty good.

Here's the bed from yesterday, painted and dressed.
And another view of it:

This came out quite well, I think.

And, I made a slipper chair:

Scrap wood, foam, and fabric.

Then, I added a table:

And I put them all inside the house.

Sadly, I apparently got spatters of paint on the floors of the tiny house while painting the roof. :(
Not sure how I'm going to fix that.

Took a trip to AC Moore with my friend Susan, and bought lavender and rose paint, two fat quarters of fabric, and a skein of rather odd yarn to make a ruffly scarf.

Making a bed

The roof is on, and the trim is attached.

I used ModPodge on the floors, and painted the upstairs ceiling yellow (after spackling the tab/slots and sanding it down).

The bed frame is glued together.

I used lightweight wood, and the legs are made of toothpicks. The bed is sitting on the box from a 1/2 scale window. I'll try to start putting a size reference item in my photos.

I've been envisioning the furnishings of this house to be fairly whimsical - I probably won't use much of the plastic furniture sets. The bed frame will be painted sort of an aqua, and I hope to have it finished tomorrow. I'll use foam for the mattress, and I have some fabric and lace to use as well.

Miss Lillian's Feline Cottage

My new and fanciful project - a 1/4 scale house, built for Miss Lillian.

Miss Lillian.

Miss Lillian comes from PamelaJunksMinis on Etsy. She is designed to be either full-sized at 1:48, or doll-sized at 1:12.

The house is painted vanilla, with blue denim trim. The door is a spring green with yellow panels.

The interior of the house is two rooms. Downstairs is a kitchen/living room. Upstairs is the bedroom, with either workspace or bathroom. I haven't decided which yet. Although I left the downstairs ceiling unpainted and unpapered, I will be painting the upstairs ceiling after it's assembled and spackled.

I used split coffee stirrers to make the inside window and door trim. The flooring and wallpaper are scrapbook papers.

The roof will be painted denim blue, with green and yellow trim.
